Ensuring Leadership Development through Mentorship & Guidance

Catherine Mayone has been the driving force behind the transformation of PlowShare, challenging every team member to think beyond traditional boundaries and embrace a broader vision for the agency. By positioning PlowShare as a catalyst for rebuilding trust in institutions, Catherine, the company's President, has instilled a mission-driven mindset, encouraging the team to contribute to continuous progress.

Her visionary "can-do" attitude creates an environment where team members feel empowered to expand their skill sets and contribute meaningfully to the company's growth. Her leadership style allows individuals the flexibility to approach their work in a way that suits them while ensuring her unwavering support and guidance are always within reach.

A triathlete who couldn't swim the length of the pool when she started 13 years ago, Catherine, armed with her determination, got a coach, and practiced and sought out the triathlon with the shortest swim she could find! Over time, she built skills and confidence, and in 2019, she completed a full Ironman, a 2.4-mile open water swim, a 112-mile bike, and a 26.2-mile run. "Success in triathlon is a metaphor for what it takes to be successful in your career and your life – it takes practice, training, and lots of patience. Most outside observers never see the blood, sweat, and tears it takes – they just see the result!"

One of Catherine's remarkable strengths is her ability to identify root issues and pay meticulous attention to detail quickly. This is evidenced by her strategic prowess in having a robust and nuanced understanding of the competitive landscape and foresight into how market shifts will impact their services and clients. Her ability to develop a clear roadmap for the next 5+ years has set PlowShare on a trajectory for success, and her commitment to innovation and her adept navigation of a complex organizational structure has been instrumental in aligning the company for a prosperous future. In that vein, a key driver of PlowShare's growth has been Catherine's ability to connect people and agencies across diverse lanes, creating new business opportunities and fostering professional development for all team members. Her leadership style, marked by quiet confidence and openness to suggestions, enables every team member to actively participate in shaping the company's future. Her high cultural intelligence, inclusive approach to innovation, and keen understanding of nuance make her an inspirational leader. Catherine's innate talent spans all key business areas, and her commitment to diversity ensures a unique and thriving work environment in our industry.

For Catherine, leadership development happens through mentorship and senior leader guidance, peer leader observations, opportunities for stretch opportunities, and training. Catherine believes that her leadership has been enhanced over time by working for various leaders with their areas of expertise, styles, and belief systems and in different areas of the business. To that end, she helps her teams seek opportunities to move around to other clients and supports the mobility of talent into and out of PlowShare within the Publicis network. In the last year, she created two Councils in the company focused on company innovation and growth. These councils allow leaders to be part of the company's transformation and lead different initiatives. Catherine also encourages all team members to take advantage of Publicis's rich breadth and depth of leadership training. She frequently checks in one-on-one with team members at all organizational levels. With this brilliant mindset, Catherine is taking the organization to new heights.

PlowShare Group, LLC (PlowShare) specializes in marketing, communications, and media services with the federal government and nonprofits aimed at creating outcomes for social good. PlowShare is a wholly owned subsidiary of Publicis Groupe, the #1 media buying network in the U.S. PlowShare is an industry leader in providing audited, large-scale Public Service Announcement (PSA) media. It counts iconic nonprofits and the largest federal government agencies as loyal clients. "We started observing the disturbing trend that people are losing trust in our country's institutions. We see and hear about it all the time in multiple research studies, news articles, and as a part of our public discourse both online and offline," explains Catherine. "PlowShare's clients are primarily nonprofit and government clients with social good causes that improve and save lives and yet, in some cases, trust has been eroding. So, we have crafted a new mission for the company to deliver socially good outcomes by helping to rebuild trust between our country’s core institutions and the people that they serve. We do that by telling trusted stories with real people, by insuring we are engaging people in trusted marketing channels, and by delivering trusted results."
